stitches and hos fundraiser

On Tuesday we held a fundraiser at our little knitting hootennany.  As you may (or may not) know we provide free wool and needles for anyone that comes along to one of our events and if they want to they can take them home.

So after 5 years of knitting hootenannys the stitches and hos cupboard was bare.  I put a call out for prizes to our raffle, rounded up some DJ’s and baked up a storm.

The day of the fundraiser started well, the lovely people at Stitch Perfect donated a Keep and Share belt kit and a voucher to the raffle fund.  I also bought a copy of the rather marvellous Vogue’s Stitchionary 2 as another raffle prize.

In the afternoon disaster struck our DJ’s pulled out due to illness.  On my way home from work I made some calls and called in a few favours.  Within the hour I’d managed to find new DJ’s – all was not lost.

The rest of the night went swimmingly – much cake was ate and joviality had.  If you don’t believe me take a look at some pictures.

A big thank you to everyone that came along, donated prizes for the raffle, bought raffle tickets and ate cake – especially the last bit.  I was worried that it might be cake for breakfast lunch and dinner this week.  Another special thank you to my emergency DJ’s Simon Fox, Dorian Wood and Matt Common.  You helped us raise a total of £54 to replenish our wool stocks. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
