stitches and hos – a little knitting hootenanny

Stitches and Hos are a motley crew of enthusiasts for all things knitted, crocheted and stitched who run a monthly knitting night based at Hare and Hounds pub, Kings Heath, Birmingham.

Started in 2005 by Sara Fowles, Pip McKnight, Juliet Rayment and Bobbie Dubber whilst sipping in a lounge bar of their local pub as the answer to the question ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if people were knitting in here?’

So they decided to find out exactly how funny it would be…

The first meetings were born – every month at a local pub in Moseley.

Since then Stitches and Hos have been found creating soft chaos and dropping stitches at events such as Ikon Gallery Eastside Picnic (2006), Shambala Festival (2006) and Moseley Folk Festival (2006, 2007) where with the help of festival participants they have created a knitted patchwork cloak for the band Circulus and marquee bunting.

In March 2008 Stitches and Hos moved to their new home at the Hare and Hounds pub, Kings Heath, Birmingham where they meet on the last Tuesday of every month.  Here Stitches and Hos have found a welcoming venue with a decent pint to plan their soft revolution.
